Outside of Europe, it is found in the Caucasus, Siberia and the Russian Far East.[2] The habitat consists of damp fenlands and shingle beaches. The wingspan is 14–18 mm.[3] Adults are on wing from mid-June to early September.[4] The larvae feed on Salix and Populus species. They feed in the catkins of their host plant.[5] References1. ^Fauna Europaea {{Wikispecies}}{{Commons}}{{Taxonbar|from=Q13574026}}{{Gelechia-stub}}2. ^{{aut|Junnilainen, J.}} et al. 2010: The gelechiid fauna of the southern Ural Mountains, part II: list of recorded species with taxonomic notes (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae).
