The Very Rev. Canon George Bartlet (13 November 1866 – 13 February 1951) was a Scottish clergyman who was Dean of Aberdeen and Orkney from 1934 to 1948.[1] Bartlet was born in 1866 in Forgue, Aberdeenshire to George Bartlet and his wife, Isabella Cruickshank.[2] He was educated at King's College, Aberdeen, graduating in 1893, and ordained in 1894. After curacies in Ayr and Glasgow, he held incumbencies in Forgue, Folla Rule, and Aberdeen prior to being elevated to Canon in 1924,[3] a decade before his appointment as Dean.[4] In 1942, he became rector of Kincardine O'Neil, and retired six years later.[5] He died in Edinburgh in 1951 and was survived by his wife, Ethel Murray, and two sons and a daughter.[5] References1. ^Scottish Episcopal Clergy, 1689-2000 p. 517 Bertie, D.M: Edinburgh; T & T Clark {{ISBN|0-567-08746-8}} {{S-start}}{{S-rel}}{{S-bef|before=Robert Mackay}}{{S-ttl|title=Dean of Aberdeen and Orkney|years=1934–1948}}{{S-aft|after=John Wattie}}{{End}}{{Deans of Aberdeen and Orkney}}{{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Bartlet, George}}{{Scotland-bio-stub}}{{Christian-clergy-stub}}2. ^Scotland, Select Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950 3. ^Crockford's Clerical Directory 1947/48 p72: Oxford, OUP, 1947 4. ^{{cite web|url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2507&dat=19510214&id=h2FAAAAAIBAJ&sjid=jpQMAAAAIBAJ&pg=2362,3528199|title=Canon George Bartlet|work=Glasgow Herald |date=14 February 1951|publisher=|accessdate=1 October 2014}} 5. ^1 {{cite news |title=Former Dean of Aberdeen Diocese |url=https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000445/19510214/060/0005 |accessdate=19 June 2018 |work=Aberdeen Evening Express |date=14 February 1951 |page=5 |language=en}} 6 : 1866 births|1951 deaths|Alumni of the University of Aberdeen|Scottish Episcopalian clergy|Anglican deans|Deans of Aberdeen and Orkney |
