George E. Bryant (February 11, 1832 - February 16, 1907) was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate and a Brigadier General in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. BiographyBryant was born on February 11, 1832 in Templeton, Massachusetts.[1] He attended Norwich University. On September 27, 1858, Bryant married Susie A. Gibson.[2] They would have three children. Military careerBryant was initially assigned to the 1st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment of the Union Army during the American Civil War, having previously captained the Madison Guards. Before long, he was given command of the 12th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment. He served until 1864. In 1880, Bryant became Quartermaster General of the then-Wisconsin National Guard.[3] Political careerBryant was a member of the Senate from 1875 to 1876. He was elected Dane County, Wisconsin Judge in 1866, 1870 and 1874 and was Postmaster of Madison, Wisconsin from 1882 to 1886 and again from 1890 to 1894. Additionally, he was a delegate to the 1880 Republican National Convention.
