He is a member of the Coptic Catholic Church.[3][4] Early yearsBorn and raised in Port Said, Isaac graduated from Cairo University with a BA in history and began his career as a teacher and later as a consultant.[5] Politically active at a young age, he was a member of Egypt's Constitution Party.[2][3] Political activismIsaac was a founding member, leader, and coordinator of the Kefaya opposition group, the unofficial moniker of the National Association for Change, a grassroots coalition which prior to the 2011 revolution drew its support from across Egypt’s political spectrum.[6][7][8][9] It was a platform for protest against Hosni Mubarak’s presidency; political corruption and stagnation; "the blurring of the lines between power and wealth; and human rights.[10][11] During the 2012 Egyptian protests, Isaac urged President Mohamed Morsi to withdraw his constitutional declaration.[3] On 8 December, after Morsi sought to address some of the protesters' demands, Isaac said that Morsi’s new declaration "does not answer people’s demands", and the work would continue.[12] References1. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.almasryalyoum.com/news/details/355520|title= من قيادات "الدستور" المستقيلين يشكلون "الكتلة الوطنية" لخوض الانتخابات|agency=Al Masry Al Youm|date=10 December 2013|accessdate=16 July 2014}} 2. ^1 {{cite news|title=Egypt's Constitution Party hit by fresh mass resignation|url=http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/84958.aspx|accessdate=12 December 2013|work=Ahram Online|date=28 October 2013}} 3. ^1 2 {{cite news|author= |url=http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/12/08/253927.html |title=Egypt’s liberal Ghad party accepts Mursi’s call for dialogue, opposition boycotts |publisher=alarabiya.net |date= |accessdate=9 December 2012}} 4. ^{{cite news|author=George Isaac |url=http://gulfnews.com/news/region/egypt/egypt-s-christians-building-a-new-order-of-equality-1.956446 |title=Egypt’s Christians – building a new order of equality |publisher=Gulf News |date=24 December 2011 |accessdate=9 December 2012}} 5. ^{{cite web|author=ظ…ظ†ظٹ ظٹط§ط³ظٹظ† |url=http://today.almasryalyoum.com/article2.aspx?ArticleID=101579&IssueID=1013 |title=ط¬ظˆط±ط¬ ط¥ط³طط§ظ‚.. ظ…ط¯ط±ط³ ط§ظ"طھط§ط±ظٹط® ط§ظ"ط°ظٹ طھطظˆظ" ط¥ظ"ظٹ ط±ظ…ط² |publisher=Today.almasryalyoum.com |date= |accessdate=12 December 2013}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.globalpolitician.com/print.asp?id=3683 |title=Enough of Enough |publisher=Globalpolitician.com |date= |accessdate=9 December 2012}} 7. ^{{cite news |url=http://articles.cnn.com/2011-02-04/world/egypt.wise.committee_1_protests-new-government-committee?_s=PM:WORLD |title=Egypt's 'Committee of the Wise' wants to be in transition talks |publisher=CNN |date=4 February 2011 |accessdate=9 December 2012 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20130130140002/http://articles.cnn.com/2011-02-04/world/egypt.wise.committee_1_protests-new-government-committee?_s=PM%3AWORLD |archivedate=30 January 2013 |df=dmy }} 8. ^{{cite news|url=http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/33/100/28879/Elections-/News/George-Issac-demands-MB-and-Salafists-reveal-their.aspx |title=George Issac demands MB and Salafists reveal their source of funding |publisher=ahram.org.eg |date=9 December 2011 |accessdate=9 December 2012}} 9. ^{{cite web|url=http://al-shorfa.com/en_GB/articles/meii/features/main/2011/03/04/feature-01 |title=New Egyptian prime minister receives warm reception in Tahrir Square |publisher=Al-Shorfa |date= |accessdate=9 December 2012}} 10. ^Egypt on the Brink by Tarek Osman, Yale University Press, 2010, p.136-7 11. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.egyptindependent.com/news/run-victories-give-liberals-hope-elections-say-experts |title=Run-off victories give liberals hope in elections, say experts |publisher=Egypt Independent |date= |accessdate=9 December 2012}} 12. ^{{cite news|url=https://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/12/09/254059.html |title=Egypt’s Mursi annuls controversial decree, opposition says not enough |publisher=alarabiya.net |date= |accessdate=8 February 2016}} External links 12 : Living people|Egyptian people of Coptic descent|Coptic Catholics from Egypt|Coptic politicians|People of the Egyptian revolution of 2011|Egyptian politicians|Egyptian activists|Egyptian revolutionaries|Egyptian nationalists|Cairo University alumni|People from Port Said|1938 births |
