After working as a cartoonist and illustrator for newspapers in Sicily, he moved first to Bologna (where he collaborated with the Glauco Gresleri Architectural Studio) and then permanently to Milan to paint where presently he lives and works. In 2004 the work of Veneziano first came to public notice with a show at the Le Trottoir pub in Milan which featured controversial portraits of Osama Bin Laden and Maurizio Cattelan (the latter with a noose around his neck), both which were subsequently featured on the cover of Flash Art Magazine.[2] Veneziano's work was included in the Arsenale section of the 2013 55th edition of the Venice Biennale[3] The artist is represented by the Contini gallery in Venice and the Gestalt gallery in Milan.[4][5] Following the designers Dolce and Gabbana spotting a Veneziano painting of Christ on the cross wearing a pair of their brand name underwear briefs in the Venice Biennale they commissioned the artist to do a portrait of them with the Madonna portrayed as the likeness of the chanteuse and performer Madonna Ciccone and the courtiers as two putti at her feet.[6][7] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.artnet.com/artists/giuseppe-veneziano/|title=Giuseppe Veneziano on artnet|publisher=artnet.com|accessdate=2015-09-20}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://continiarte.com/en/artist/giuseppe-veneziano/|title=Giuseppe Veneziano - Contini - Galleria d'Arte|publisher=continiarte.com|accessdate=2015-09-20}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.labiennale.org/doc_files/padital-artisti.pdf|date=22 August 2011|title=PADIGLIONE ITALIA ALLA 54° ESPOSIZIONE INTERNAZIONALE D’ARTE DELLA BIENNALE DI VENEZIA | L’ARTE NON È COSA NOSTRA|publisher=MiBAC|accessdate=2015-09-20|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20131014173225/http://www.labiennale.org/doc_files/padital-artisti.pdf|archivedate=14 October 2013|df=}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://blog.venice-tourism.com/2011/06/its-art-so-i-can/|title=It’s Art so I can! « Blog Venice tourism|publisher=blog.venice-tourism.com|accessdate=2015-09-20}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.gestaltgallery.it/?q=node/598|title=Zeitgeist | Gestalt Gallery|publisher=gestaltgallery.it|accessdate=2015-09-20}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/758548c8-5d54-11e1-889d-00144feabdc0.html|title=Lunch with the FT: Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana|publisher=ft.com|accessdate=2015-09-20}} 7. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.10magazine.com/article/15176531624/dolce-gabbana-art-house|title=DOLCE & GABBANA: ART HOUSE - 10 Magazine10 Magazine|publisher=10magazine.com|accessdate=2015-09-20}} External links{{Official website|giuseppeveneziano.com}}{{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Veneziano, Giuseppe}} 4 : 21st-century Italian painters|Italian male painters|Living people|1971 births |
