The Glassic SQ2000 (also written as SQ 2000 and SQ-2000) is an American homebuilt aircraft, designed and produced by Glassic Composites LLC of Sale Creek, Tennessee. When it was available the aircraft was supplied as a kit for amateur construction.[1][2] Design and developmentThe SQ2000 features a cantilever mid-wing with tip rudders and a canard, a four-seat enclosed cabin accessed via doors, fixed or optionally retractable tricycle landing gear and a single engine in pusher configuration.[1] The aircraft is made from composites. Its {{convert|26.58|ft|m|1|abbr=on}} span wing has a wing area of {{convert|104.0|sqft|m2|abbr=on}}. The cabin width is {{convert|48|in|cm|abbr=on}}. The acceptable power range is {{convert|160|to|260|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} and the standard engine used is the {{convert|200|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} Lycoming IO-360 powerplant.[1] Like many canard designs, the SQ2000 has lengthy runway requirements. The standard day, sea level take-off run is {{convert|1600|ft|m|0|abbr=on}}, while the landing roll is {{convert|1500|ft|m|0|abbr=on}}.[1] Operational historyBy 1998 the company reported that two kits had been sold and that one aircraft had been completed and was flying.[1] In December 2013 five examples were registered in the United States with the Federal Aviation Administration, although a total of eight had been registered at one time.[2] Variants
Retractable gear model. The SQ2000 XP has a typical empty weight of {{convert|1200|lb|kg|abbr=on}} and a gross weight of {{convert|2250|lb|kg|abbr=on}}, giving a useful load of {{convert|1050|lb|kg|abbr=on}}. With full fuel of {{convert|42|u.s.gal}} the payload for pilot, passengers and baggage is {{convert|798|lb|kg|abbr=on}}. The manufacturer estimated the construction time from the supplied kit as 700 hours.[1]
Fixed gear model, with oleo strut-mounted gear. The SQ2000 ES has a typical empty weight of {{convert|1200|lb|kg|abbr=on}} and a gross weight of {{convert|1900|lb|kg|abbr=on}}, giving a useful load of {{convert|700|lb|kg|abbr=on}}. With full fuel of {{convert|39|u.s.gal}} the payload for pilot, passengers and baggage is {{convert|466|lb|kg|abbr=on}}. Other differences from the SQ2000 XP include a wing area of {{convert|100.0|sqft|m2|abbr=on}} and a cruise speed of {{convert|225|mph|km/h|abbr=on}}. The manufacturer estimated the construction time from the supplied kit as 750 hours.[1] Specifications (SQ2000 XP){{Aircraft specs|ref=AeroCrafter[1] |prime units?=imp
