释义 |
The Grand Island and Wyoming Central Railroad (GI&WC) was a railroad that served the U.S. states of Nebraska and South Dakota. It was headquartered in Grand Island, Nebraska.[1] In 1902, it had a length of {{convert|401.32|mi}}.[1] It was leased by the Burlington and Missouri River Railroad (B&M), which was a subsidiary of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, on May 25, 1886.[2] The original intent was to extend the line into Wyoming,[1] and westward construction began in 1886;[3] but in 1889, the railroad began building into the Black Hills to serve the mines built during the Black Hills Gold Rush. In 1890, the railroad reached Hill City and Englewood, and in 1891, service to Deadwood was established.[1] A line to Spearfish was added in 1893.[4] In 1897, the B&M purchased the GI&WC, and the line began operating as the B&M.[5] References1. ^{{cite book |author= |title=Annual Report |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=yTE2AAAAIAAJ&dq=grand+island+and+wyoming+central+railroad&source=gbs_navlinks_s |publisher=Iowa State Commerce Commission |page=119 |year=1902 |volume=24}} {{Nebraska railroads}}{{South Dakota railroads}}{{US-rail-transport-stub}}{{Nebraska-transport-stub}}{{SouthDakota-transport-stub}}2. ^{{cite book|last=Strause|first=L.K.|year=1928|title=Interstate Commerce Commission Reports: Decisions of the Interstate Commerce Commission of the United States|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=iy78UHXstosC|publisher=Interstate Commerce Commission|volume=134}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.cairorootsmuseum.org/site/history-of-the-area/ |title=History of the Area |author= |year=2012 |website=Cairo Roots Museum |publisher=Cairo Roots Museum |location=Cairo, NE |accessdate=March 8, 2014 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140309213519/http://www.cairorootsmuseum.org/site/history-of-the-area/ |archivedate=March 9, 2014 |df= }} 4. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.blackhillsvisitor.com/featured-articles.html?pid=879&sid=952:Time-Line-of-Black-Hills-Railroads |title=Time Line of Black Hills Railroads |author= |year=2013 |website=Black Hills Visitor |publisher=Black Hills Visitor |location=Rapid City, SD }} 5. ^1 2 3 {{cite book|last=Fielder|first=Mildred|title=Railroads of the Black Hills|origyear=First published 1964|year=1985|publisher=Dakota Graphics|location=Deadwood, SD|lccn=64-21320}} 4 : Defunct South Dakota railroads|Defunct Nebraska railroads|Railway lines opened in 1886|Railway companies disestablished in 1897 |
