The station is "re-born" by creator Sean Rafferty see [https://www.gwentradio.com Gwent radio] as a non profit community radio station with the idea of promoting Gwent to the local [https://www.gwentradio.com/listen listeners]. The station plays oldies from the 50's to 00's keeping in the tradition of the old station.

The station was the first in the UK to transmit in the 102.2 to 104.5Mhz part of the VHF/FM waveband.^[3]
