She was featured opposite Prosenjit Chatterjee for the first time in Bhijoy Bhaskar's Naag Panchami (1994).[10] Several of her hits in Bangla cinema include Sagarika (1998),[11] Tomar Amar Prem (1998), [12] Ranga Bou (1999). Hema Malini picked her for a negative supporting role in Zee's home-production Mohini, starring Madhu and Sudesh Berry.[6] In 1996, she worked in a Kannada movie called Karnataka Suputra.[13] In 2013, she made her Malayalam debut with Sohanlal's Kadhaveedu.[14] Early lifeRituparna was interested in the arts since a young age and learned painting, dancing, singing and handicrafts at a painting school, called Chitrangshu. She studied at Mount Carmel school, and later graduated in History from Lady Brabourne College. She began studying Modern History for an M.A. at University of Calcutta, but had to interrupt studies to concentrate on her career as an actress.[15][16] Personal lifeSengupta got married to her childhood friend Sanjay Chakrabarti,[17] founder and CEO of MobiApps on 13 December 1999 in Munshigonj and the couple has a son named Ankan and a daughter named Rishona Niya.[18] Awards and honors
