}} The Hemerobiiformia are a suborder of lacewing insects in the order Neuroptera. The phylogeny of the Neuroptera was explored in 2014 using mitochondrial DNA sequences. The results indicate that the traditional Hemerobiiformia are paraphyletic, meaning that not all the members of the clade are considered to belong to it, in particular since it would include all the Myrmeleontiformia, with which the Hemerobiiformia were traditionally contrasted. The Osmyloidea, usually included in Hemerobiiformia, actually seem to represent a more ancient lineage basal to Hemerobiiformia as well as Myrmeleontiformia. The broken-up group is shown in the cladogram:[1] {{clade|label1=Neuroptera |1={{clade |1=Osmylidae |2={{clade |label1=(core of "Hemerobiiformia") |1={{clade |1=Mantispidae (mantidflies) |2={{clade |1=Ithonidae (moth lacewings) |2=Chrysopidae (green lacewings) }} }} |label2=Myrmeleontiformia |2={{clade |1=Nymphidae (split-footed lacewings) |2={{clade |1=Myrmeleontidae (antlions) |2=Ascalaphidae (owlflies) }} }} }} }} }} References1. ^{{cite journal |author1=Yan, Y. |author2=Wang Y, Liu, X. |author3=Winterton, S.L. |author4=Yang, D. |title=The First Mitochondrial Genomes of Antlion (Neuroptera: Myrmeleontidae) and Split-footed Lacewing (Neuroptera: Nymphidae), with Phylogenetic Implications of Myrmeleontiformia |journal=Int J Biol Sci |date=2014 |volume=10 |issue=8 |pages=895–908 |doi=10.7150/ijbs.9454 |url=http://www.ijbs.com/v10p0895.htm}} External links{{Commons category}}{{Wikispecies}}{{Orders of Insects}}{{Neuroptera}}{{Taxonbar|from=Q15712875}}{{Neuroptera-stub}} 1 : Hemerobiiformia |
