Henry Burling (1 May 1801 – 17 September 1911) was a New Zealand mail carrier and farmer. He was born in Stratford, Essex, England on 1 May 1801 to Thomas Burling, a soap maker, and Joanna Pike. Burling carried mail by foot between Wellington and Wanganui. As a result, he had many dealings with Te Rangihaeata and other Maori in the area. He came to New Zealand with his wife Mary (who died in 1864) in 1841. He died at Waikanae, survived by three of their thirteen children; Arthur (73y; with whom he was living), Henry (86y) and Sarah Goodin (69y).[1] He had over 600 living descendants.[2] References1. ^{{cite web|url= https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/MH19110919.2.16?end_date=1911-09-30&phrase=0&query=Burling&start_date=1911-09-15 |title= Death of a Centenarian |publisher= ""Manawatu Herald in Papers Past (New Zealand) |date=19 September 1911 }} 2. ^{{cite web|url= https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/NZH19110919.2.47?end_date=1911-09-30&phrase=0&query=Burling&start_date=1911-09-15 |title= Five score and ten |publisher= New Zealand Herald in Papers Past (New Zealand) |date=19 September 1911 }} External links
