Heritage Care is a UK national Charity providing community based care and support provider.[1] It provides a portfolio of integrated services for people with a learning disability, mental health needs and for older adults including those living with dementia.

History

Starting out in 1993 as an Industrial and Provident Society and part of English Churches Housing Group (ECHG). Originally formed out of the Community Care Division of Newham Health Authority which provided health services for Newham London Borough, its formation being typical of many of the earlier voluntary sector community care providers in the UK that were outsourced from Local Authority or Health authority in-house provision.

Heritage Care separated from ECHG in 2002 becoming fully independent and in 2010 became a Registered UK Charity and a Registered UK Company limited by guarantee in England & Wales.

Its subsequent growth has largely been due to further services being transferred from Local Authorities and the NHS, the acquisition of new services and more recently a merger with Community Options, a specialist provider of Mental Health Services in 2010.

Activities

Heritage Care employs over 1700+ members of staff and provides services and support at over 140+ locations around the United Kingdom. The organisation works independently and in partnership with a range of statutory, local government and charitable organisations and bodies. It provides services for three client groups, older adult, mental health and learning disability.

The range of current services provided by the organisation includes:

> Registered Residential Care Homes

> Care Homes with Nursing

> Extra Care Services

> Domicillary & Flexible Support Services

> Supported Living Services

> Respite & Short Breaks

> Community Engagement & Inclusion Services

Specialist support services for people with complex, severe and enduring mental health issues are currently provided under the Community Options name. Community Options is a trading name of Heritage Care.

Amber Housing is a wholly owned not-for-profit subsidiary of Heritage Care. They provide housing management, property development and other housing related services both to Heritage Care and to external housing providers.

Mission

The Heritage Care mission is: To provide personalised support that enables individuals to lead valued and meaningful lives in the community.

Values

The work of the charity is underpinned by the 5i Values that sit at the heart of the care and support it provides.
