It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.[1] Its construction, during 1934-36, was barely allowed by passage of a bond issue to take advantage of a Public Works Administration grant. It is significant for its Art Deco architecture, along with that of the Stark County Courthouse.[2][3] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} {{National Register of Historic Places}}{{NorthDakota-NRHP-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=85002984}} |title=National Register of Historic Places Registration: Hettinger County Courthouse |author=Marty Perry |date=October 3, 1985 |publisher=National Park Service}} (pages 27-28 in ND Courthouses TR) and {{NRHP url|id=85002984|title=accompanying photo from 1984|photos=y}} 3. ^{{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=64000474}} |title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: North Dakota County Courthouses (Thematic)|author=Marty Perry|date=October 3, 1985 |publisher=National Park Service}} 6 : Courthouses on the National Register of Historic Places in North Dakota|County courthouses in North Dakota|Buildings and structures in Hettinger County, North Dakota|Art Deco architecture in North Dakota|Government buildings completed in 1934|National Register of Historic Places in Hettinger County, North Dakota |
