}}Hibbertia aspera, commonly known as rough Guinea flower, is a small shrub that is native to Australia. It grows to 60 cm high and has yellow flowers which appear in summer.[1]

The species was first formally described in 1817 by Swiss botanist Augustin Pyramus de Candolle in Regni Vegetabilis Systema Naturale.[2] There are two recognised subspecies:

  • H. aspera DC. subsp. aspera
  • H.aspera subsp. pilosifolia Toelken - described in 1998, the type specimen collected in the Atherton Tablelands
Hibbertia aspera occurs on sandy soils in open forest and heath in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.[1]
