It is financed by advertisements and by film ticket sales through the site.[1] It claimed 11.2 million monthly visitors {{as of|2011|November|lc=y}}.[2] Owned by Hollywood.com, LLC, the site was founded in around 1995.[1] In 2000, 35 of the 50 employees at the site's Santa Monica office were laid off in an effort to cut costs by focusing operations on the company's headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida.[3] Laurie S.
