After travelling the world for 18 years, Marcoux returned to live with his sister in Bedford, Nova Scotia.[1] His boat, Mon Pays, was wrecked during Hurricane Juan.[2] To pay for boat repairs, Marcoux began writing his first novel, speaking at conferences,[3] and writing for trade magazines. In November 2009, he left Eastern Passage[4] and was supposedly lost on his voyage from Nova Scotia to Bermuda.[5] Education and careerMarcoux studied Commerce at the University of New Brunswick. Marcoux started then sold his two successful Montreal businesses. The first was the manufacture of flight suits. The second was the manufacture of picture frames. VoyageIn August 1981, Maccoux purchased the vessel Jonathan in Daytona Beach, Florida. In 2003, he completed an 18-year world sailing circumnavigation with a solo trip from Australia to Halifax. Lost at seaSailing solo on his boat the Mon Pays, Marcoux left the Eastern Passage on November 9, 2009. He had planned on arriving in Bermuda on November 16. When he didn't arrive, a search was conducted by Canadian and U.S. aircraft. On November 22 the search was scaled back and then stopped shortly after.[6] Mon PaysMon Pays was a Compu-Craft Yacht Design Dimensions boat, LOA 46'.[7] This craft was lost at sea during a northeaster in the Atlantic.
