It is operated by JR Kyushu and is on the Nagasaki Main Line.[1][2] LinesThe station is served by the Nagasaki Main Line and is located 109.4 km from the starting point of the line at {{STN|Tosu}}.[3] Besides local trains on the line, some trains of the Rapid Seaside Liner service between {{STN|Sasebo}} and {{STN|Nagasaki|Nagasaki}} also stop at the station.[2] Station layoutThe station consists of an island platform serving two tracks at grade. The station structure is no more than a roof for steps down to an underpass leading to the island platform. A ticket window is integrated into the structure but is however unstaffed.[3][4][5] Adjacent stations{{service rail start}}{{j-route|route=Nagasaki Main Line|col=blue|f=w}}{{j-rserv|previous={{STN|Kikitsu}}|next={{STN|Hizen-Koga}}|service=Local}}{{j-route|route=JR Kyushu Rapid|col=Red|f=w}}{{j-rserv|service=Seaside Liner (some trains)|next={{STN|Hizen-Koga}}|previous={{STN|Kikitsu}}}}{{end box}}HistoryOn 2 October 1972, Japanese National Railways (JNR) opened a new, shorter, inland route for the Nagasaki Main Line between {{STN|Kikitsu}} and {{STN|Urakami}}, thus bypassing the longer coastal route via {{STN|Nagayo}}.
