Inch HouseThe area grew around Inch House, a Scottish vernacular tower house dating from 1617. It is a category A listed building.[3] The Inch Park now surrounding it was its former garden grounds. Its former residents include Sir Robert Gilmour, 1st Baronet[4] who greatly extended and remodelled the house in the 1890s.[5] The house was sold to Edinburgh Corporation in 1946 and served for twenty years as a primary school before the building was turned into a community centre.[6] It remains in Council ownership and the grounds provide the main nursery beds for Council plants within the city parks and green-spaces. A doocot at Nether Liberton previously linked to Inch House.
