Formed in 2011, it gained a majority on the Frome Town Council in 2011, and it has held all of the council's 17 seats since May 2015. The emergence of the party is a result of ideas developed by a group of citizens, later described as "flatpack democracy" by Peter Macfadyen, one of the founders and initial councillors. HistoryIndependents for Frome was first established in January 2011 by a group of Frome residents. The party fielded 17 candidates in the 2011 local elections, winning ten seats and therefore taking control of the town council with their majority.[1] Independents for Frome featured in a discussion on 'Radical Movements' alongside representatives from Podemos, Syriza and the Radical Independence Campaign at the Left Field at Glastonbury Festival 2015.[2] Electoral performanceFrome Parish elections, 2011
