International Competition of Piano Delia Steinberg is a contest of piano founded in Madrid (Spain) in 1982 by the pianist and philosopher Delia Steinberg Guzmán (n. 1943), at the time director of the New Acropolis branch in Spain, in order to promote new values of the Music. Since then she has acted as part of the jury.

History

The competition was born in 1982 under the name of Competition of Piano New Acropolis. It received its current name in the year 2008. From its beginnings it has served to encourage the artistic career of young pianists. The contest is celebrated annually in Madrid.

This Competition is a member of the Alink-Argerich Foundation (AAF), promoted by the Argentine pianist Martha Argerich (n. 1941), from December 2007.[1][2][3]

The Competition recognizes the high participation and the technical and artistic level of the participants.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]

The jury is composed by prestigious pianists such as Rafael Solís and Maria Luisa Villalba, teachers of the Conservatoire of Music Arturo Soria of Madrid, former winners of the competition such as Albert Mamriev, soloists like Yuki Matsuzawa or teachers like Walter Gutdeutsh. In recent years, the contest was celebrated in the Theatre Victory of Madrid.
