On 20 February 2017, she reached her career-high WTA singles ranking of world No. 133 whilst her best doubles ranking was No. 213 on 14 January 2019.[1] She has also played for the Bulgarian Fed Cup team, with a current 9–11 record.[2] Early life and junior careerShinikova started playing tennis at the age seven. She played on the ITF Junior Circuit in 2006 and won two singles titles and one doubles title.[3] Professional careerIn 2009 Shinikova made her pro debut at an $25,000 event. Since then she is playing on the ITF Women's Circuit, and in 2015 she topped the 2015 leaderboard winning eight titles through the year.[4] 2016In April Shinikova made her debut at main draw of WTA tournament at Katowice Open, losing to Alizé Cornet 2–6, 7–6, 3–6 in the first round. Then she failed to qualify for the main draws of Stuttgart Open, Ricoh Open and Aegon Classic Birmingham. In July, Shinikova qualified for the main draw at the BRD Bucharest Open losing to Simona Halep in the second round. Shinikova made her debut at US Open qualifying draw, seeded 31st, losing to Laura Robson in the second round.
