The island is uninhabited and is part of the Ensenada Municipality. BiologyIsla Piojo has four species of reptiles: Crotalus mitchellii (speckled rattlesnake), Phyllodactylus nocticolus (peninsular leaf-toed gecko), Sauromalus hispidus (spiny chuckwalla), and Uta stansburiana (common side-blotched lizard).
