Noorgaard served as the head of several ministries within Social Democratic governments during the 1960s and 1970s.[1] He supported Denmark's membership into the European Economic Community, the predecessor of the European Union, and headed his country's successful negotiations.[1] Noorgaard was an opponent of the euro and the eurozone.[1] Noorgaard died of a cerebral blood clot on November 3, 2011, at the age of 89.
