It was the first building built at the permanent location of Ricks College, a college founded in 1888 by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.[2] It was built during 1900 to 1903. Its external walls were faced with ashlar, and were {{convert|51|in|m}} at the foundation, {{convert|32|in|m}} at the first floor windows, {{convert|28|in|m}} at the second floor windows, and {{convert|24|in|m}} at the third floor windows. Lighter colored sandstone was used for string courses encircling the building.[2] The building was destroyed by a fire in 2000. A new Spori Building was built on the same site and in a similar style.
