She is a Democrat representing the 44th Assembly District, which encompasses portions of Ventura County and the city of Westlake Village. Prior to being elected to the Assembly in 2014, she was a two-term Mayor and three-term City Councilmember in Thousand Oaks, as well as a member of the Thousand Oaks Planning Commission. She also worked as an engineer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab on the Trident Missile Project and at Teledyne Systems.[1] BiographyIrwin graduated from the University of California, San Diego, where she was an Academic All American swimmer. In her first term in the Assembly, Irwin successfully authored numerous pieces of legislation into law and brought vital state funds back to her community. Through her leadership funding was allocated for the creation of the CSU Channel Island School of Engineering and for innovation centers on UC campuses to transform UC research into products. Her legislation created tax-free savings accounts for the disabled, increased the cybersecurity of state agencies, and removed barriers for military service members seeking mental health services.[2] 2014 California State Assembly{{see also|California State Assembly elections, 2014}}{{Election box open primary begin no change| title = California's 44th State Assembly district election, 2014 }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change | party = California Democratic Party | candidate = Jacqui Irwin | votes = 24,225 | percentage = 44.7 }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change | party = California Republican Party | candidate = Rob McCoy | votes = 16,811 | percentage = 31.0 }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change | party = California Republican Party | candidate = Mario de la Piedra | votes = 13,116 | percentage = 24.2 }}{{Election box total no change | votes = 54,152 | percentage = 100.0 }}{{Election box open primary general election no change}}{{Election box winning candidate with party link no change | party = California Democratic Party | candidate = Jacqui Irwin | votes = 57,098 | percentage = 52.3 }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change | party = California Republican Party | candidate = Rob McCoy | votes = 52,085 | percentage = 47.7 }}{{Election box total no change | votes = 109,183 | percentage = 100.0 }}{{Election box gain with party link no change | winner = California Democratic Party | loser = California Republican Party }}{{Election box end}} 2016 California State Assembly{{see also|California State Assembly election, 2016}}{{Election box open primary begin no change| title = California's 44th State Assembly district election, 2016 }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change | party = California Democratic Party | candidate = Jacqui Irwin (incumbent) | votes = 63,992 | percentage = 60.9 }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change | party = California Republican Party | candidate = Kerry J.
