The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region; until January 2014 it was part of the Savinja Statistical Region.[2] The local church is dedicated to Saint Margaret ({{lang-sl|sveta Marjeta}}) and belongs to the Parish of Svibno. It was built in 1900 on the site of an earlier church mentioned in written documents in the 16th century.
