Club careerSon of former Arsenal player Brian Marwood,[1] James Marwood began his career as a youth team player with Newcastle United, before playing for English non-league sides Blyth Spartans and Team Northumbria. After joining Gateshead in 2010, he went on to make over 100 appearances for the club. Having been utilised as a winger, Marwood moved to a striking position in season 2013–14, resulting in him being the club's top goalscorer.[1] St MirrenOn 26 June 2014, Marwood signed a one-year contract with St Mirren, with the option of a further year.[2] Marwood made his competitive debut for the club against Motherwell on 9 August 2014, in the Scottish Premiership.[3] On 20 January 2015, Marwood left St Mirren, with his contract being cancelled by mutual consent.[4] Forest Green RoversOn 23 January 2015, it was announced that Marwood had signed for Conference Premier side Forest Green Rovers on an 18-month contract.[5] He made his debut for the club on 31 January 2015 as a substitute in a 1-0 home win over Nuneaton Town.[6] He scored his first goal for the club on 10 February 2015 in a 2-2 away draw against Alfreton Town.[7] At the end of the 2014–15 season he helped Forest Green to the play-offs, only to be denied a second consecutive year of appearing in the final because of a semi-final defeat against Bristol Rovers.[8] GatesheadOn 24 June 2015 it was announced that Marwood had left Forest Green and re-signed for Gateshead.[9] After missing the majority of the season with an ankle injury, Marwood was released at the end of the 2015–16 season.[10] International careerMarwood earned a call up to the England C team in May 2014, alongside Gateshead teammate Marcus Maddison.[11] He made his unofficial debut in a 2–2 draw with Sparta Prague B on 21 May 2014,[12] before making his official debut 3 days later as a late substitute in a 0–1 defeat to Slovakia U23.[13] He made his first international start on 28 May 2014 in a 2–4 defeat against Hungary U23.[14] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.saintmirren.net/pages/?p=34065 |title=New Signing – James Marwood |work=www.sainmirren.net |publisher=St Mirren official website |date=26 June 2014 |accessdate=26 June 2014 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140626231518/http://www.saintmirren.net/pages/?p=34065 |archivedate=26 June 2014 |df= }} 2. ^1 {{cite web |url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28045538|title=James Marwood: St Mirren sign Gateshead forward |work=www.bbc.co.uk |publisher=BBC |date= 26 June 2014 |accessdate=26 June 2014}} 3. ^{{cite web |url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28647036|title=Motherwell v St Mirren |work=www.bbc.co.uk |publisher=BBC |date= 9 August 2014 |accessdate=9 August 2014}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Marwood Leaves |url=http://www.saintmirren.net/pages/?p=40095 |archive-url=https://archive.is/20150120231033/http://www.saintmirren.net/pages/?p=40095 |dead-url=yes |archive-date=20 January 2015 |publisher=St Mirren F.C. |date=20 January 2015 |accessdate=20 January 2015 }} 5. ^{{Cite web| url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30959003 |title=Forest Green sign former St Mirren striker James Marwood |publisher=BBC Sport |date=23 January 2015 |accessdate=8 February 2015}} 6. ^{{Cite web| url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30963580 |title=Forest Green 1-0 Nuneaton Town |publisher=BBC Sport |date=31 January 2015 |accessdate=8 February 2015}} 7. ^{{Cite web| url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31359171 |title=Alfreton Town 2-2 Forest Green |publisher=BBC Sport |date=10 February 2015 |accessdate=15 February 2015}} 8. ^{{Cite web| url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32473545 |title=Bristol Rovers 2-0 Forest Green |publisher=BBC Sport |date=3 May 2015 |accessdate=4 May 2015}} 9. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/33254078 |title=James Marwood: Gateshead re-sign Forest Green forward |publisher=BBC Sport |date=24 June 2015 |accessdate=8 May 2016}} 10. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.gateshead-fc.com/5925/retained-list-announced |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160506064121/http://www.gateshead-fc.com/5925/retained-list-announced |dead-url=yes |archive-date=6 May 2016 |title=Retained list announced |publisher=Gateshead FC |date=3 May 2016 |accessdate=8 May 2016 }} 11. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.thefa.com/news/england/development/2014/may/england-c-squad-named-for-slovakia-120513|title=Fairclough names squad for Slovakia and Hungary|publisher=The FA|date=12 May 2014|accessdate=17 August 2014}} 12. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.thefa.com/news/england/development/2014/may/sparta-prague-2-2-england-c-report-210514|title=England C warm-up with draw at Sparta Prague|publisher=The FA|date=21 May 2014|accessdate=17 August 2014}} 13. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.thefa.com/news/england/development/2014/may/england-c-slovakia-report-240514|title=Late heartache for England C in Slovakia|publisher=The FA|date=24 May 2014|accessdate=17 August 2014}} 14. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.thefa.com/news/england/development/2014/may/hungary-4-2-england-c-match-report-270514|title=England C suffer harsh lesson in Budapest against Hungary|publisher=The FA|date=28 May 2014|accessdate=17 August 2014}} External links
