Recruited from Surrey Hills, Victoria, Cooper debuted with the Fitzroy Football Club in 1984 and was a fringe player, playing 26 games over four seasons.[1] Since retiring from playing football, Cooper has developed a painting career, primarily focusing on large-scale historical sporting portraits. In 2008 he was commissioned by the Australian Football League to create a painting to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the first game of Australian rules football.[2] He has also created many Team of the century or Dream Scene composite portraits where players from different era's are shown at their prime in a single locker room.[3] References1. ^{{Ref AFL Encyc|4th|125}} 2. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.150years.com.au/150Moments/150MomentsArticle/tabid/11382/Default.aspx?newsId=55972 |title=The Game That Made Australia painting |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20130419120046/http://www.150years.com.au/150Moments/150MomentsArticle/tabid/11382/Default.aspx?newsId=55972 |archivedate=19 April 2013 |df= }} 3. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.theage.com.au/national/melbourne-life/exfootballer-hits-home-run-20110215-1av5i.html|title=Ex-footballer hits home run|date=16 February 2011}} External links
