Following the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1938 he was employed by the Prague-based German film studio Prag-Film. After the Second World War Roth continued to work in the now Communist Czech film industry until 1969. He was noted for his ability to create Chiaroscuro effects. Selected filmography
