Club careerHicks signed with Wellington Phoenix on a short-term injury replacement contract.[1] However, his performances in the 2 league games he played in were impressive enough to land him a 2-year contract with the club.[2] Hicks scored his first goal for the Phoenix in a 3–2 victory over the Newcastle Jets on 9 February 2014.[3] Hicks was called into the All Whites squad for a 30 May friendly in Auckland against South Africa by interim coach Neil Emblen. Hicks made his international debut on 30 May 2014 against South Africa, coming on as a substitute. The match ended in a nil-all draw. On 19 November 2015, National Premier Leagues Victoria side South Melbourne FC confirmed that Hicks had joined the club for the 2016 Football Federation Victoria season.[4] Upon signing for the club, Hicks stated his ambition was to "win the league with South".[5] He was released by South Melbourne on 14 February 2016, prior to the beginning of the league season and prior to making a single appearance with the club.[6] On 13 February 2016, Jason Hicks signed with National Premier Leagues Victoria side Melbourne Knights FC.[7] Hicks made his non-competitive debut for Melbourne Knights in a 3–2 loss to Sydney United 58 FC in the annual Friendship Cup fixture, that year contested at Sydney United Sports Centre in New South Wales.[8] Hicks then made his official debut for the Knights in Round 1 of the NPL Victoria season, a 1–1 draw against Green Gully SC at Knights Stadium.[9] The midfielder got his first assist in Red, White and Blue in Round 3, when he set up fellow midfielder James McGarry for the opening goal in a 2–1 win over Northcote City FC in Round 3.[10] On 19 March 2016, Hicks scored a hat-trick in a 7–0 win over Eltham Redbacks FC in Round 4 of the 2016 FFA Cup.[11] Just six days later, Hicks was again the hero as he scored the lone goal in Melbourne's 1–0 victory over FC Bulleen Lions in the NPL Victoria.[12] In Round 10, Jason Hicks scored a 90th-minute winner against Melbourne Victory FC Youth.[13] In February 2016, Hicks joined Melbourne Knights.[14] He was released by them in October 2017.[15] References1. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11138056 |title=Soccer: Phoenix sign four players on short deals |publisher=nzherald.co.nz |accessdate=13 October 2013 |date=10 October 2013}} {{Use dmy dates|date=October 2013}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Hicks, Jason}}2. ^{{cite web| url=http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/wellingtonphoenix/news-display/player-signing-%7C-plumber-hicks-lands-his-dream-job/77489| title=Plumber Hicks Lands his Dream Job|publisher=Football Federation Australia|date=24 October 2013}} 3. ^{{cite web|last=Hughes|first=Mark|title=Newcastle Jets vs Wellington Phoenix Report|url=http://www.goal.com/en-sg/match/108643/newcastle-jets-vs-wellington-phoenix/report|accessdate=3 May 2014}} 4. ^http://www.smfc.com.au/south-sign-jason-hicks-for-2016-season/ 5. ^http://www.cornerflag.com.au/kiwi-international-joins-south-melbourne/ 6. ^{{cite web|last1=Kouroumalis|first1=George|title=SOUTH RELEASE JASON HICKS AHEAD OF TRANSFER DEADLINE|url=http://www.smfc.com.au/south-release-jason-hicks-ahead-of-transfer-deadline/|website=smfc.com.au|accessdate=2 May 2016}} 7. ^{{cite web|title=Knights sign deadline week midfielder|url=http://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/knights-sign-deadline-week-midfielder/|website=Melbourne Knights FC|accessdate=2 May 2016}} 8. ^{{cite web|title=Late Charge Falls Short For Gallant Knights|url=http://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/late-charge-falls-short-for-gallant-knights/|website=Melbourne Knights FC|accessdate=2 May 2016}} 9. ^{{cite web|title=Knights Share The Spoils|url=http://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/knights-share-the-spoils/|website=Melbourne Knights FC|accessdate=2 May 2016}} 10. ^{{cite web|title=Knights record first win for 2016|url=http://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/knights-record-first-win-for-2016/|website=Melbourne Knights FC|accessdate=2 May 2016}} 11. ^{{cite web|title=Hicks Hatrick Ensures No Hick-Ups In Cup Win|url=http://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/hicks-hatrick-ensures-no-hick-ups-in-cup-win/|website=Melbourne Knights FC|accessdate=2 May 2016}} 12. ^{{cite web|title=Knights The Lion Tamers|url=http://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/knights-the-lion-tamers/|website=Melbourne Knights FC|accessdate=2 May 2016}} 13. ^{{cite web|title=Late Drama Again For Knights|url=http://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/late-drama-again-for-knights/|website=Melbourne Knights FC|accessdate=2 May 2016}} 14. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/knights-sign-deadline-week-midfielder/|title=Knights sign deadline week midfielder|publisher=Melbourne Knights|date=13 February 2016}} 15. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.melbourneknights.com.au/news/confirmation-club-departures/|title=Confirmation of club departures|publisher=Melbourne Knights|date=19 October 2017}} 10 : 1990 births|Living people|New Zealand association footballers|New Zealand international footballers|Association football midfielders|Wellington Phoenix FC players|A-League players|New Zealand Football Championship players|National Premier Leagues players|Melbourne Knights FC players |
