Barclay Harding and Charles E. Warburton. The former was a son of Jesper Harding, whose name figures so conspicuously in the history of Philadelphia journalism. He had been thoroughly fitted for the task of starting a new journal by service under his father, and lived to see the Evening Telegraph firmly established. After his death, which occurred on Oct. 29, 1865, the paper passed under the sole control of Mr. Warburton, his brother-in-law, who still remains its proprietor, publisher, and editor-in-chief. Mr. Harding was an active politician, as well as a working journalist, and at the time of his death was collector of internal revenue for the First District of Philadelphia.
