It is a bada bathisa Thikana of Mewar state. Jilola village is the location of the Chundawat dynasty, Jilola's name is derived from Jheel (lake) and sola (sixteen). There used to be salt pans to make salt from the water of numerous small ponds. There are still many lakes at Jilola; namely Jaliyo or Butao ka talab, agra or Purshoottam sagar and Naya Talab or Laxman sagar. There is small fort also in the centre of village near the Mana bagh.There is old kachori {judicial court} near the jeelola fort as well.
