He played for {{Rut Griquas}}, the {{Rut SWD Eagles}} and the {{Rut Pumas}} in the domestic Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup competitions and made one appearance for the {{Rut Southern Kings}} in Super Rugby.[1] His regular position is scrum-half or wing. He retired in 2016 to become a fleet controller at a transport business.[2] Career2013 Southern Kings Super Rugby seasonHe was included in the {{Rut Southern Kings}} squad for the 2013 Super Rugby season.[3] However, he was just included in the matchday squad for the first game of the season against the {{Rut Force}}, coming off the bench to make his Super Rugby debut.[4] He returned to {{Rut SWD Eagles}} for their 2013 Vodacom Cup campaign, but suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury after three appearances and was ruled out for the remainder of the Super Rugby season. PumasHe moved to the {{Rut Pumas}} for the start of the 2014 season,[5] but missed the entire season through injury. He was a member of the Pumas side that won the Vodacom Cup for the first time in 2015, beating {{Rut Western Province}} 24–7 in the final.[6] Herbst made seven appearances during the season, scoring one try.
