BiographyConger was born on February 27, 1921.[1] He was educated at Amherst College and Yale University.[2] He served in World War II and commanded the USS Tweedy (DE-532).[3] In the 1950s, he wrote a textbook titled Child Development and Personality. Conger, PhD Lectureship in Child Mental Health Policy Endowment.[5] References1. ^{{cite web|title=On February 27|url=http://www.cwu.edu/~warren/calendar/cal0227.html|publisher=American Psychological Association|accessdate=November 12, 2014}} {{APA Presidents|state=uncollapsed}}{{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Conger, John J.}}2. ^1 {{cite journal|last1=Murray Law|first1=Bridget|title=Albee and Conger focused on forces beyond the individual|journal=Monitor on Psychology|date=September 2006|volume=37|issue=8|page=58|url=http://www.apa.org/monitor/sep06/memoriam.aspx|accessdate=November 12, 2014|doi=10.1037/e532252006-036}} 3. ^1 2 {{cite news|last1=Culver|first1=Virginia|title=Psychologist Conger served five presidents, wrote texts|url=http://www.denverpost.com/obituaries/ci_3983464|accessdate=November 12, 2014|work=Denver Post|date=June 27, 2006}} 4. ^{{cite journal|title=John J.
