It was built about 1870, and is a three-story, three bay wide stone building in the Italianate style. The front elevation features a three-story central tower. The house was built by David Yuengling of the Yuengling brewery family. It was the childhood home of noted author John O'Hara (1905-1970), whose father purchased the house in 1916 and remained there until 1940.[2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.[1] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} {{National Register of Historic Places in Pennsylvania}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Ohara, John, House}}{{Pennsylvania-NRHP-stub}}2. ^{{cite web| url = https://www.dot7.state.pa.us/ce/SelectWelcome.asp| title = National Historic Landmarks & National Register of Historic Places in Pennsylvania| publisher = CRGIS: Cultural Resources Geographic Information System| format = Searchable database}} Note: This includes {{cite web| url = {{NRHP-PA|H000931_01H.pdf}}| title = National Register of Historic Places Inventory Nomination Form: John O'Hara House | accessdate = 2012-06-02| author = Michael J.
