He represented Morden from 1900 to 1906 in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a Conservative. He was born in Halton County, Canada West, the son of George Ruddell and Christina Stewart,[2] and came to Manitoba in the early 1880s to establish a harness-making business in Nelson. Ruddell later moved to Morden, where he established a real estate firm. He also served as mayor of Morden.[1] The town of Ruddell, Saskatchewan may have been named after him.[2] References1. ^1 {{cite book |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=IyZ389DiOlgC&pg=PA217 |title=Dictionary of Manitoba Biography |page=217 |last=Bumsted |first=B M |year=1999 |ISBN=0887551696 |publisher=University of Manitoba Press |accessdate=2012-11-11}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Ruddell, John H}}{{Manitoba-politician-stub}}2. ^1 2 {{cite news |url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=zpNjAAAAIBAJ&sjid=XXoNAAAAIBAJ&pg=3382,3797530 |title=How Ruddell got its name still a two-pronged mystery |newspaper=Star-Phoenix |date=January 30, 1978 |page=7 |accessdate=2012-11-11}} 5 : 1859 births|1906 deaths|Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba MLAs|Mayors of places in Manitoba|People from Morden, Manitoba |
