He was the Magistrate of Taoyuan County from 2009 to 2014.[5][6] Early lifeWu obtained his bachelor's and master's degree in law from National Taiwan University. Taoyuan County upgradeIn July 2014, it was announced that Taoyuan County would be renamed Taoyuan and reclassified as a special municipality by the end of the year. The county-controlled city, known officially as Taoyuan City, was to be renamed Taoyuan District.[8][9] 2014 Taoyuan City Mayor electionIn 2014, Wu joined the 2014 Republic of China municipal election to be the Kuomintang Mayor candidate of the soon to be formed Taoyuan City, going against Cheng Wen-tsan of the Democratic Progressive Party.[4] However, he lost to Cheng.
