Club careerEarly yearsBorn in Cangas del Narcea, Asturias, Jony finished his formation with FC Barcelona after a period with local Real Oviedo. He made his senior debuts with the latter's reserves in the 2010–11 season, in Tercera División.[1] In June 2011, Jony moved to Segunda División B club Marino de Luanco.[2] He continued competing in that level in the following years, representing Getafe CF B,[3] Real Avilés[4] and Sporting de Gijón B.[5] SportingJony signed a two-year professional deal with the latter's first team on 7 May 2014, being definitely promoted.[6] He played his first match as a professional three days later, starting and scoring the first goal in a 2–1 home win against Hércules CF for the Segunda División championship.[7] Jony contributed with seven goals in 41 appearances during the 2014–15 campaign, being an undisputed starter as the Rojiblancos returned to La Liga after a three-year absence.
