{{Use dmy dates|date=December 2014}}{{Use British English|date=December 2014}}Jude Rogers (born 1978)[1] is a Welsh[1] journalist and lecturer who is a music critic for The Guardian.[2] She also regularly writes features and articles for The Observer,[4] New Statesman[3] and women's magazines such as Red.[4] Her articles have also been published by The Times and by BBC Music[5] and she broadcasts on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4 and BBC 6 Music.[4] She is a senior lecturer in journalism at London Metropolitan University.[6][10]

Early life and education

She was born and bred in two villages near Swansea,[11][7] where she went to comprehensive school.[8] In 1997 Rogers became president of the student union at Wadham College, Oxford.[8] She has an English degree from the University of Oxford and an MA from Royal Holloway.[9]

Professional career

In 2003 Rogers co-founded the magazine Smoke: a London Peculiar.[10][11]

After working as reviews editor on The Word, she became a full-time freelancer in 2007.[9]

She has been a judge on several music prize panels,[6] including the Welsh Music Prize[7][12] and the Mercury Prize,[7] and was one of ten experts chosen to write for the University of Westminster's MusicTank 10:10 project, writing about the future of music journalism.[6][13]

In 2017 she scripted an audio guided tour, narrated by Jarvis Cocker, for the Southbank Centre's exhibition ABBA: Super Troupers on the Swedish pop group ABBA.[14]

Personal life

She married in 2011.[15] She and her husband Dan[15] have a son, Evan, born in 2014.[16] They live in Wales, having moved there in 2016[17] from Leyton, north east London.[18]
