Jácint attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he majored in business marketing and swam for the UNLV Rebels swimming and diving team, under head coach Jim Reitz, from 1998 to 2002. While swimming for the Rebels, he posted top-ten career bests in the 200-yard freestyle (1:36.27), 500-yard freestyle (4:21.19), and 1650-yard freestyle (15:41.93), all from the 2001 Mountain West Conference (MWC) Championships in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.[2][3] He also received a total of four All-American honors from the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, and three successive MWC awards as the Men's Swimmer of the Year from 2000 to 2002.[4][5] Gathering a laundry list of accomplishments in his college career, Jácint was among the seven former athletes, including Romanian swimmer Ioana Diaconescu, to be officially inducted to the UNLV Rebels Hall of Fame in 2012.[6][7] Jácint competed for Hungary in the men's 4×200 m freestyle relay at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.[8] Teaming with Attila Czene, Zsolt Gáspár, and Bela Szabados in heat one, Jácint swam the third leg and recorded a split of 1:50.32, but the Hungarians missed the top 8 final by almost a full second with a tenth-place time of 7:24.48, worthy enough for a national record.[9][10] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Jácint Simon|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/si/jacint-simon-1.html|27 June 2013}} 2. ^{{cite news|title=BYU Sweeps Mountain West Champs|url=http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/2245.asp|publisher=Swimming World Magazine|date=17 February 2001|accessdate=27 June 2013}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=2005–2006 UNLV Rebels Swimming and Diving Guide – UNLV Conference Champions|url=http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/unlv/genrel/auto_pdf/0506-swim-mg-sec5.pdf|format=PDF|work=UNLV Rebels|publisher=University of Nevada, Las Vegas|accessdate=27 June 2013}} 4. ^{{cite news|title=Swimmers Take Top Conference Honors|url=http://www.unlvrebels.com/sports/m-swim/spec-rel/021801aaa.html|publisher=UNLV Rebels|date=18 February 2001|accessdate=27 June 2013}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=UNLV notebook: Swimming teams place second in MWC tourney|url=http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2002/mar/04/unlv-notebook-swimming-teams-place-second-in-mwc-t/#axzz2XQq4uxoC|publisher=Las Vegas Sun|date=4 March 2002|accessdate=27 June 2013}} 6. ^{{cite news|title=UNLV's Hall Of Fame Class Of 2012 Announced|url=http://www.unlvrebels.com/genrel/041812aae.html|publisher=UNLV Rebels|date=18 February 2001|accessdate=27 June 2013}} 7. ^{{cite news|last=Bern|first=Taylor|title=Eddie Owens highlights the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2012|url=http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/apr/18/eddie-owens-highlights-unlv-athletics-hall-fame-cl/#axzz2XQq4uxoC|publisher=Las Vegas Sun|date=18 April 2012|accessdate=27 June 2013}} 8. ^{{cite web|title=Swimming – Men's 4×200m Freestyle Relay Startlist (Heat 1)|url=http://www.omegatiming.com/File/Download?id=000100060028000000FFFFFFFFFFFF00|format=PDF|work=Sydney 2000|publisher=Omega Timing|accessdate=26 June 2013}} 9. ^{{cite web|title=Sydney 2000: Swimming – Men's 4×200m Freestyle Relay Heat 1 |url=http://www.la84foundation.org/6oic/OfficialReports/2000/Masters/sw/SWresults.pdf |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110819181023/http://la84foundation.org/6oic/OfficialReports/2000/Masters/sw/SWresults.pdf |dead-url=yes |archive-date=19 August 2011 |format=PDF |work=Sydney 2000 |publisher=LA84 Foundation |page=341 |accessdate=23 April 2013 }} 10. ^{{cite news|title=Wide-open race in the men's 100 free|url=http://www.canoe.ca/2000GamesSwimming/sep19_wid.html|publisher=Canoe.ca|date=18 September 2000|accessdate=26 May 2013}} External links
