It lies just {{Convert|9|km|mi|0}} off the Gharyan–Nalut road and about {{Convert|70|km|mi|0}} west of Jadu,[4] on the northern edge of the Tripolitanian Plateau in the Nafusa Mountains. HistoryHistorically, Kabaw was a Berber town in the Ghadames administrative area. After World War II, it was occupied by the French military and governed from Tunisia.[5] It was returned to Libyan control in 1951.
