She later represented India at the Miss World 2011 pageant[4] where she placed in top 30.[5] Early lifeKanishtha was born on 21 September 1988[1][2] in Mumbai, India to Raj Singh Dhankhar, a Commodore in the Indian Navy, and Kusum Dhankhar at Kasni village in Jhajjar. She is second of their three children. Her father was posted in Mumbai at the time of her birth. Her mother is a school teacher and a home maker and has worked extensively with the Naval Wives Welfare Association in Mumbai. Her ancestral family is from Haryana. Kanishtha was raised in Colaba, Mumbai. She pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree in H.R. She has been featured in and has shot for fashion magazines like Vogue, Elle, Grazia, Harpers Bazaar, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan and has also been on the cover of Elle, Marie Claire, Grazia, and Cosmopolitan. The latest feathers under her cap include the Sabyasachi campaign, Hemant & Leconet campaign, being the first face at the Wills India fashion week. Also she will be featured in The Project Runway season 10 finale with Heidi Klum.
