}}{{Starbox end}}Kappa Normae, Latinized from κ Normae, is a solitary,[4] yellow hued star in the southern constellation of Norma. Its apparent magnitude is 4.94,[3] which is bright enough to be faintly visible to the naked eye. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 7.62 mas as seen from Earth, the system is located about 430 light years distant from the Sun. It is an evolved giant star of spectral type G8III that has swollen and cooled off the main sequence.[14] It shines with a luminosity approximately 195 times that of the Sun and has an effective temperature of 4,972 K.[12]
