| website = {{URL|neurology.cam.ac.uk/researchgrps/syren/karalyn-patterson}} | footnotes = }}Karalyn Eve Patterson, {{post-nominals|country=GBR|sep=,|FRS|FBA|FMedSci}} is a British psychologist in Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Cambridge and MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, Cambridge. She is a specialist in cognitive neuropsychology.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] BiographyPatterson attended South Shore High School, Chicago, from which she graduated in 1961.[10] She completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of California, San Diego, in 1971.[11] In 1975, Patterson moved to England with her husband, Roy, to take a position at the Applied Psychology Unit of the Medical Research Council in Cambridge.[12] In addition to her academic roles, Patterson has a great interest in food and wine, and has been Wine Steward at Darwin College, Cambridge, where she is a fellow.[10][13] Awards and honoursPatterson is one of a select group of academics that are fellows of both the Royal Society, the UK's national academy for science, and the British Academy, the UK's national academy for humanities and social sciences.[14] Her nomination for the Royal Society reads: {{centred pull quote|Karalyn Patterson was one of the prime initiators of the field of cognitive neuropsychology. The different approaches she has developed to study brain based disorders of language and memory have brought great rigour to the field, and have allowed stringent tests of different theories. She is one of the very few people in the world able to adopt a truly multi-disciplinary approach including computational modelling, behavioural observation, neuropsychological testing and functional neuroimaging. Consequently, her work has led to a better understanding of how language and memory are organised in the brain, and how they unravel in Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia.[2]}} References1. ^{{Who's Who | surname = PATTERSON | othernames = Dr Karalyn Eve | id = U255681 | volume = 2015 | edition = online Oxford University Press}} {{subscription required}} {{FRS 2014}}{{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Patterson, Karalyn}}2. ^1 2 {{cite web|title=Dr Karalyn Patterson FMedSci FRS|url=https://royalsociety.org/people/fellowship/2014/karalyn-patterson/|publisher=The Royal Society|accessdate=2014-05-07}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=PATTERSON, Dr Karalyn, FRS, FMedSci|url=https://www.britac.ac.uk/fellowship/directory/ord.cfm?member=6553|work=British Academy Fellows|publisher=British Academy|accessdate=2014-05-07}} 4. ^{{Scopus|id=34571632800}} 5. ^{{Cite journal | pmid = 8650300| year = 1996| author1 = Plaut| first1 = D.
