Katarina Majerhold (born May 20, 1971) is a Slovenian philosopher, writer, screenwriter, lecturer and editor. She is particularly interested in philosophy of emotions, especially in philosophy of love and sexuality, happiness, philosophical counseling and ethics. She has been the only Slovenian philosopher who had her own philosophical counseling column in the magazine O osebnosti (2007–2010) and in the biggest Slovenian newspaper, online version Delo.si. She also wrote numerous articles on philosophical counseling. In 2017 she got certificate for philosophical counseling by acclaimed Canadian philosophical counselor and professor Peter Raabe.

She published her article History of Love in the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy.[1]

Majerhold is writer of philosophy, screenwriter, editor and translator. She previously worked at the Slovenian Educational Research Institute where she held the rank of a young researcher/assistant and worked on higher education for many years. In that time she wrote and edited three important books on Slovenian higher education (University and Its Autonomy (1999),[2] University and Its Power (2001), Does University Need Its Social Environment (2003)[3] Ljubljana, Študentska založba).

She was editor-in chief of international scientific review Andragoška spoznanja (Andragogic Perspectives) (2008-2011), she was a member of the editorial board of the magazine Sodobnost (Contemporary) (2002–2012) and she has been an editorial board member of the international scientific magazine JKC (1998–).

In her early career as a philosopher of love she mostly worked on learning of the western concepts of love and which prevailing concept of love each period in history offered (Empedocles' Love (Eros) and Strife (Neikos), Plato's Eros and Aristotle's Philia, St. Paul's Agape and St. Augustine Caritas, Rousseau's notion of a modern romantic pair of Email and Sophie, Freud's love as transference and Nussbaum's compassionate, reciprocal, erotic and individual love). However, this does not mean that each representative concept of the period speaks of a totally new or innovative concept of love, many of them are interdependent and/or modification of the other. However, in the last few years she has started developing her own concept of love as an art work (i.e. installation), imagining love as innovative, democratic, individual, and common process at the same time.

Her dedication to love is seen in numerous articles she wrote about the topic, such as love and happiness, love and gift, love and art, love and truth, love and politics, love: top-down or bottom-up and alike in the scholarly magazines at home and abroad. However, she did not write not only articles but also books on love, sexuality and emotions: Love in Philosophy[4](from Plato to Freud, Psihopolis, Novi Sad 2012), Living[5] (Koda, Študentska založba, Ljubljana 2012), Love Through History (Mladinska knjiga, Ljubljana 2014), Love, Its Origin and Modifications Through Time (Založba Obzorja, Maribor, 2016), Čustveni izzivi (Rokus-Klett, Ljubljana, 2017). She wrote article The Gift in What Philosophy Can Tell You About Your Lover[6] (Open Court, Chicago and LaSalle, Illinois, 2012).

She also does art, especially writing screenplays for documentaries and films through which she tries to convey her knowledge and experiences in the area of love, sexuality, happiness and play (she is the author of documentaries, such as Love; Emotions, fabrics of our lives; The Future of Clothing, Attraction of Gender 2008–2015, Radio-television Slovenia. She prepares her first film).

She has been writing reviews of LB-films and TV-and web series for various magazines, such as Ekran, Kino! since 2008. In 2018 she created her own website LL-Passion where she publishes philosophical essays, reviews of LB-films, TV- and web-series, she also publishes interviews with either LB-women (artists, editors, researchers, humanists) or women who work in the LGBT-area. She combined her work on LGBT rights with Unesco OER chair at Institute Jožef Štefan in a project Unesco OER for vulnerable groups (2017–2018). She continues writing books and screenplays and occasionally gives lectures on topics of love, emotions and sexuality.

She is all about philosophy with heart (love), humour and joy. Majerhold is also a humanitarian, and dedicates her time, knowledge and energy to people in need. She also fights for animal rights, she is a vegan, occasionally vegetarian. Her dedication to sustainable development and sustainable mobility is seen in her numerous articles.
