Kermit Swiler Champa (1939–2004)[1] was Andrea V. Rosenthal Professor of the History of Art and Architecture at Brown University from 1970 to 2004. EducationHe earned a bachelor's degree in art history from Yale in 1960, where he also played trombone. He would go on to receive a doctorate from Harvard in 1965, where he studied under Clement Greenberg and Frederick B. Deknatel.[2] CareerA specialist of Impressionist paintings, Champa first taught at Yale, before moving to Brown in 1970. At Brown, his students would include the noted art historian Olivier Berggruen.[3] Selected publications
