Tan Sri Khoo Chong Kong (died 13 November 1975) was a Perak state police chief during the Communist insurgency in Malaysia (1968–89) in Malaysia.

Assassination

On November 13, 1975, DCP Khoo was shot dead by two gunmen of the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) on a motorcycle, at a line of traffic lights junction between Fair Park and Jalan Anderson in Ipoh, Perak. His driver, PC 5135 Yeung Peng Chong was also killed when he returned fire at his assassins.

His funeral in Ipoh, was attended by about 20,000 people including the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister, Tun Hussein Onn and Inspector General of Police Tun Hanif Omar. His body was flown back to Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Sempang Air Base in Kuala Lumpur and then buried at his hometown in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

Legacy

The Jalan Khoo Chong Kong in Ipoh, Perak and Jalan Tan Sri Khoo Chong Kong in Police Quarters at Taman Desa Baiduri, Cheras, Selangor were named after him.
