}}Khushi Khushiyagi (English : Happy) is a 2015 Indian Kannada romantic comedy film and the debut work of Director Yogi G. Raj, a former associate of directors Preetham Gubbi and Harsha. The film stars Ganesh and Amulya[2] along with Nandini Rai in the lead roles. The film is an official remake of the Telugu blockbuster film Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde (2013), which was directed by Vijay Kumar Konda.[3] The film opened on the screens on 1 January 2015.[4]

Plot

Raj (Ganesh) is a carefree guy who believes that everyone has the right to make their own decisions. At his friend Sadhu's (Sadhu kokila) wedding reception, he sees Priva (Nandini Rai) and falls for her at first sight. He asks Sadhu's wife to learn more about Priya. Sadhu's wife gives Priya's number to her husband and asks him to pass it on to Raj. A miscommunication between Raj and Sadhu leads to Raj calling another woman, Nandani (Amulya). Raj mistakes Nandani for Priya on the phone and has a conversation with her. Unbeknownst to him, Nandani knows who Raj is and develops an interest in him.

Through a series of events, everything is revealed and Raj's confusion is cleared. Meanwhile, Raj is helping his friend Anand get the attention of a girl. This girl turns out to be Priya, who falls for Anand. Comedic events lead to Anand doubting Priya, which puts their relationship at stake. This is later resolved and they come together.

Meanwhile, Nandani plans to get revenge on Raj for the deception and pain that he put her through. She gains employment as Raj's boss and uses this position to tempt him, putting him through hardships and sometimes seducing him with her body. Raj plans to propose to his boss (Nandani) and she is ready to reject his proposal to avenge her pain. Just before he proposes though, Raj realizes that he is truly in love with his phone friend Nandani. He runs to her house to plead for her forgiveness. He sees Nandani there and they unite with a hug.

Production

Development

Yogi G. Raj expressed his intent to become an independent director after working with the likes of Preetham Gubbi and Harsha. The title for the film was initially Savira Janmaku, which was subsequently changed to Crazy Boy, Shokilal, and Kushi Kushiyali before being finalized as Kushi Kushiyagi

.[5] The director chose a remake for his first directorial debut and obtained the official remake rights from the producers of the original Telugu film.

Casting

Before Ganesh was granted the lead role, the producers considered Puneeth Rajkumar for it, but scheduling conflicts prevented Puneeth from accepting. Actress Kajal Agarwal was approached to play the character which Nithya Menen originally played.[6] The director chose the actress Amulya, who successfully paired with Ganesh in Cheluvina Chittara and Shravani Subramanya, as the final lead actress. Telugu actress Nandini Rai was added to the cast to play the second lead of a fashion designer which was played by Isha Talwar in the original Telugu version.[7]
