Municipally, it is incorporated as Kikvidzensky Municipal District.[2] It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is {{convert|2120|km2|sp=us}}.{{citation needed|date=August 2011}} Its administrative center is the rural locality (a stanitsa) of Preobrazhenskaya.[3] Population: {{ru-census2010|17,669|;}} 18,860 (2002 Census);[4] {{su-census1989|18,732|.}} The population of Preobrazhenskaya accounts for 31.3% of the district's total population.
