LocationKillokennedy lies in the barony of Tulla Lower, County Clare, about {{convert|5|mi}} west of Killaloe. It is on the road from Killaloe to Ennis. In 1837, as applotted under the tithe act, it contained {{cvt|9,349|acre ||adj=pre|statute}}. Much of this is mountain pasture, and there is some bog.{{sfn|Lewis|1837}} The Cragnamurragh and Glennagalliagh mountains rise to {{convert|1729|ft}} and {{convert|1458|ft}} in altitude. The parish is about {{convert|7.5|by|2.75|mi}} covering {{cvt|11,656|acre}} in total.{{sfn|Killokennedy: 1845 Gazetteer}} HistoryAs of 1841 there were 3811 inhabitants in 596 houses.
